Speech Recognition is the process of identifying and converting spoken words into text by a program.  It is also known as "automatic speech recognition" (ASR), "voice recognition", "computer speech recognition", or "speech to text" (STT).

Many programs such as Braina Speech Recognition Program are available for converting speech to text.

You can use Speech Recognition do the following:
  • Control your computer: Speech Recognition listens and responds to your spoken voice commands. You can use Speech Recognition to run programs, perform various tasks and interact with Windows.
  • Dictate text: You can use Speech Recognition to dictate text into word-processing programs like Microsoft Word or Notepad. You can even use speech recognition to fill out online forms in a web browser.
